How does it operate?
ITSwisp subscribers do not need a phone line and have a choice of two package types (HOME or BUSINESS) each with a choice of broadband speeds.
Starting from ITSwisp HQ at 36 Hurricane Way (near Norwich airport), transmitters on our 30 metre mast broadcast the signal in all directions to mast installations across the county. ITSwisp subscribers have a small discrete aerial fixed on to their property, to allow them to receive this amazing new broadband service.
ITSwisp is leading the broadband revolution starting here in Norfolk, by not relying on ageing telecoms lines and infrastructure.
Did you know that very few countries in the world rely on a telecoms infrastructure to transmit broadband, and certainly not an antiquated network like the one we have in the UK. ITSwisp with its innovative network is bringing the broadband of the future into Norfolk right now!
ITSwisp Network across Norfolk, into Suffolk & Cambridgeshire
As the name suggests, the whole system is based on radio wave transmission. The high speed fibre optic connection at InTouch Systems’ premises sends the signal across the county to the the other ITSwisp masts.
The signal is then picked up by customers in the area from small aerials fixed on to their property, providing a fast, reliable Internet connection. Although the system relies on line of site, Norfolk is an ideal location for a wireless broadband project due to the flatness of the area and the height of the mast. However InTouch Systems’ will always confirm reception, before carrying out any installation
The ITSwisp broadband service doesn’t need a landline, so cost savings can be made here. Unlike copper cable the signal doesn’t degrade over distance, so the same high quality service is provided wherever you are in the area.
The ITSwisp service provides not only fast reliable broadband, but also peace of mind. With our specially designed mesh network, dedicated data centre and full automatic generator backup, you can rely on ITSwisp to keep you connected to the 21st century.
Our speeds advertised are not ‘Burst’ or ‘Up To’ speeds, the speed we advertise is the one you will consistently and reliably get. If other service providers advertise speeds as Up To 4 MB, or maximum Burst speeds of 4 MB, be wary of this. Burst speeds are temporary and only last for seconds; if a provider advertises speeds in this way you need to ask what your actual sustained speed will be! Burst speeds are a very clever marketing ploy, so that a service can be advertised at a much higher speed than it really is.
ITSwisp Custom Installs
Our WISP install team knows that sometimes one size doesn’t fit all. That means occasionally a standard install is not the perfect solution to a customer’s needs. See examples of our team’s flexible approach to their installations shown below.
ITSwisp Custom Install – 2.5 Meter Pole
This example is of a custom install with a 2.5 mtr pole, 30 cm receiver dish and a very well hidden cable run. The cable has been positioned on that side of the pole because the entry to the driveway is on the opposite side, which means no cable will be seen by anyone visiting.
